Happy Thanksgiving!

I've never been really thrilled with this holiday, usually it means being around people I'd rather not see and spending the day cooking and cleaning.

But today feels good. The house smells wonderful, I have help cooking, and everyone is waking up happy.

So a happy day to you all.

There's a dance coming up at school in about a month. Both of the kids are excited about it, they want to learn to dance and both of them want some really special clothes for it. Stu even asked a boy to go with her and he said yes!

Dad is improving in small steps. We spend as much time with him as we can, but it's never enough for any of us. He should be able to leave and come back to our house in a week or so.

I'm teaching a cooking class at school today, we're making apple galettes. I have 8 kids signed up for it and I'm loaded down this morning with flour, sugar, apples, baking sheets, etc....

I'm also making sock dolls in preparation for an upcoming holiday bazaar. I'm hoping that some stuff actually sells so that I have some xmas money to spend on my kids.

We spent last evening signing in the free choir and having a wonderful time! We ended up singing like crazy people in the car on the way home. It was lovely.

Dad is getting better. It's going to take a long time though. He's really weak and still breathing hard. His pulse rate is still high and he's still running a fever. But he's on the mend and that's good.

Dad was moved out of ICU and spent 2 days on the floor. Now he has a pulmonary embolism and pneumonia and is back in ICU on the ventilator.

The staff is sure that he'll be fine with a lot of recovery time, but it doesn't feel like it. It just feels sad and scary.
